Once a student has taken a quiz on the CLE, it is not possible to edit the quiz to remove a question. However, there is a way to throw out a question if necessary, i.e. if the question was poorly written or did not accurately assess a student's knowledge.
To remove a quiz question:
- Log in to the CLE (cle.ucsf.edu)
- Go to the CLE course where the quiz activity is located and click on the quiz.
- Click on the quiz title to access the Quiz navigation bar.
- On the quiz page, click on the Questions tab.
- The quiz editor will open, displaying the list of questions for the quiz.
- Locate the question you want to throw out and click on the Edit button next to it.
- In the question editor, you should find an option to delete or remove the question. This option may vary depending on the question type (e.g., multiple-choice, essay, true/false, etc.).
- Click on the delete or remove option for the question you want to throw out.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted to remove the question permanently.
- Save the changes made to the quiz.
To throw out a quiz question that has been attempted:
- On the quiz page, click on the Questions tab.
- The quiz editor will open, displaying the list of questions for the quiz.
- Locate the question you want to throw out and click on the Edit button next to it.
- To remove the question from the sum of the points for the quiz, change the weight of the question to "0" on the Edit Quiz page and click Save
You will see a yellow banner that reads, "You cannot add or remove questions because this quiz has been attempted." and it will display the number of attempts.
