Add a File Resource to a CLE Course

One of the ways to share a file with your students in the CLE is to add it to your course page as a resource. File types you can add to the CLE include PDFs, Word documents and other text files, PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets, zip files, and media such as images, videos, and audio files. There are two options to upload a file to a CLE Course - drag and drop files or add files through the file picker.

Add a File resource

  1. Navigate to the CLE course page on the top right corner, and turn Edit mode on.
  2. In the section where you would like the file to be added, click Add an activity or resource.
  3. The add an activity or resource pop-up window will open.
  4. Select the resources tab and select the File resource type. This will take you to the settings page for the new File.
  5. Add a Name and an optional Description check to Display the description on the course page. (see image below)

Option 1: Drag and drop

Upload multiple files to the CLE as a .zip file to save time. To upload multiple files simultaneously, compress your computer files into a .zip file.
  • If you upload a single zipped file, Moodle will automatically unzip it for your students to see it in Moodle.
  • If you upload a number of files as a single zipped file, either asFile or inside a Folder, Moodle will force the download.
