Add a Folder Resource to a CLE course

Add a folder to a CLE course to display a number of related files inside one page, reducing scrolling on the course page. There are two options to upload a folder to a CLE Course - drag and drop files or add files through the file picker. 

Add a Folder resource

  1. Go to the CLE course page, on the top right corner turn Edit mode on.
  2. In the section where you would like the folder to be added, click Add an activity or resource.
  3. In the window that appears, select the Folder resource type. This will take you to the settings page for the new Folder. 
  4. Add a Name and an optional Description check to Display description on the course page. (see image below)

Option 1: Drag and drop files or folders

  1. Locate the files you would like to upload on your computer (separate files or a .zip file).
  2. Drag and drop the files to the dashed-box in your course page.

  1. Select how you would like to display folder contents on the CLE course page.
  2. Click the Save and return to course button.

Option 2: Add a files from the file picker

  1. In the select file section, click the File icon to open the file picker page.

  2. Under the file picker page, click Upload a file and select the designated files from your computer.

  3. Click Upload this file.
  4. Repeat these steps as many times as needed to select the files for the folder.
  5. Click the Save and return to course button.

Display folder contents

You can choose various ways to present the information in the folder by configuring the settings below:

  • Choose On a separate page to create a link to the folder and files within
  • Choose Inline on a course page to add the folder directly to the section where the folder resource was added
  • Check Show subfolders expanded to set subfolders to display their contents by default
  • Check Show download folder button to allow students to download folder content
  • Check Force download of files to force folder contents to be downloaded rather than displayed in the browser
