What is GoReact?
GoReact is an interactive video platform for competency and skills-based learning and assessment with many opportunities for time-stamped feedback and critiques from self, peers, instructors, in person, or remote.
Key features and benefits:
- Seamless integration with the CLE gradebook and roster, and invite external graders to GoReact assignments in the CLE.
- Use outside of the CLE with the stand-alone GoReact.com platform, and invite external participants, such as learners, guest lecturers or graders, to an assignment or entire course.
- Easily customized rubrics for consistent grading.
- Allows time-stamped feedback using text, audio, or video. Store feedback ‘assets’ or ‘exemplars’ in a library to reuse.
- Record directly in GoReact, link, or upload external video.
- Track student engagement and progress, and gain insights with assignment, course, and rubric reports.
Why Use GoReact?
- Competency-based learning, targeted remediation.
- Clinical skills, procedures, treatment techniques, alone, in pairs/groups.
- Patient interaction or patient counseling role-plays.
- Ethical dilemma discussions or case discussions.
- Oral presentations or explanations of concepts.
How to access GoReact?
It's important to note that there are two ways you can set up GoReact for a course. Before you set up GoReact for your course, you'll need to decide whether to have your participants access GoReact through goreact.com or through the CLE. Courses set up in the CLE and goreact.com are on separate platforms. Therefore, courses, videos, and rosters are NOT interchangeable between the CLE and goreact.com. Additionally, grades in goreact.com are not passed back automatically to the CLE.
Please consult the UCSF Instructional Design team or your school course managers for guidance on how best to set up GoReact to meet your needs.
Accessing through the CLE
Anyone with UCSF MyAccess can use GoReact in a CLE course. You and your participants must be logged in to the CLE to create or access any GoReact content.
When using the CLE/Moodle integration:
- Grades are automatically passed back to the CLE grade book.
- Instructors cannot create recording ‘sessions’ for students.
- The GoReact mobile recorder app cannot be used.
See the GoReact for Moodle instructor guide for step-by-step instructions for setting up your course.
Accessing via GoReact.com
You may choose to use GoReact separately from CLE. Sign up at GoReact.com using your UCSF email address. Create courses and assignments through GoReact.com, and invite other instructors, reviewers, and students to join the course (including both UCSF and non-UCSF), and assign role-based permission upon invitation. All invited participants will be prompted to create an account or log in using existing credentials.
Invite participants through their UCSF email
This restricts the email address used to create new accounts and avoid confusion. See the goreact.com instructor guide for step-by-step instructions for setting up your course.
Add GoReact to the CLE
Add GoReact as you would add any CLE course activities and resources.
- Turn on Edit mode.
- Select Add an activity or resource.
- Choose GoReact 1.3 from the list of activities.
- Name the activity. After you've created the activity, the name can be changed within the CLE.
- If graded assignment, expand "Grade" and choose grade type from the dropdown.
- Don't forget to Save your newly created GoReact activity.
