Panasonic GH4 Mirrorless Camera: Lens Selection Guide

The Panasonic Lumix GH4 mirrorless camera is available for loan through the UCSF Library’s equipment loan service. The GH4 is compatible with a range of lenses. When reserving the camera, you may request one or two lenses, depending on your project's needs. Please review the available lens options below and indicate your preferred lens(es) in your reservation request. 

Equipment loans are available to USCF staff, Faculty, and Students.

Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8 Lens

 

Panasonic Lumix 12-35mm f2.8

Versatile, mid-range zoom lens with built-in image stabilization. Choose this option if you plan to borrow only one lens.

Recommended use:

  • Standard photos of people and events
  • Standard videos of people and events
  • Walk-around shooting without a tripod
Panasonic 42.5mm f1.7 Lens

Panasonic Lumix 42.5mm f1.7

This lens creates sharp, medium-to-close shots with a blurred background. Ideal focal length for flattering portraits. This lens does not zoom.

Best used for:

  • Portraits and headshots
Panasonic Lumix 35-100mm f2.8

Panasonic Lumix 35-100mm f2.8

A telephoto lens that lets you zoom in to capture clear, detailed photos of faraway subjects.

Best used for:

  • Photos of people at large events
  • Photos of distant objects
Panasonic Lumix 45mm f2.8 Macro

Panasonic Lumix 45mm f2.8 Macro

Macro lens that delivers sharp, close-up shots with a soft, blurred background, great for small objects and animals. This lens does not zoom.

Best used for:

  • Close-up, detailed photos
  • Photos of small objects
Panasonic Lumix 25mm f1.7

Panasonic Lumix 25mm f1.7

A lightweight and compact lens that captures scenes with a viewing angle similar to the human eye (50mm equivalent). Images are ultra-sharp, but the lens does not zoom.

Best used for:

  • Videography
  • Street photography
  • Photos with blurred backgrounds
